Attorney Jason S. Leibowitz, Esq.

Jason S. Leibowitz, Esq. comes to us with substantial experience in bankruptcy matters, as well as consumer finance and real estate transactions.

He previously interned as a judicial law clerk to the Chief Judge of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of New York in Central Islip, the Honorable Melanie L. Cyganowski. When the bankruptcy laws changed, he was instrumental in drafting memoranda to assist bankruptcy judges in the Eastern District of New York with understanding various aspects of the new laws.

Jason previously worked as an associate at a large New York City law firm, where he was involved in hundreds of consumer real estate transactions, representing buyers, sellers and lenders. As a bankruptcy attorney, Jason also learned bankruptcy law from the creditor’s perspective, having represented a number of mortgage companies with bankruptcy litigation.

Jason attended Touro Law School here on Long Island. While there, he also interned for the Suffolk County District Attorney. Jason received litigation training in a special intensive trial techniques program at Hofstra Law School. He was personally taught bankruptcy law and procedure by our own Bankruptcy Judge, the Honorable Stan Bernstein.

Prior to law school, Jason worked for six years serving several Fortune 100 companies with matters involving financial reporting. He majored in finance at Ithaca College, and holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.

Jason, who has a strong computer background, is especially interested in the field of information technology and how it can be applied to the practice of bankruptcy law.

Jason is admitted to practice in both New York and New Jersey, as well as the Federal Courts for the Eastern, Western and Southern Districts of New York.
